The dynamic development of globalization processes leads to a constant increase in the number of cross-cultural contacts. It is necessary to identify and address the causes of misunderstanding and to prevent possible conflicts during cross-cultural communication in order to contribute to the successful cooperation of representatives of different cultures [1]. The prerequisite for intercultural communication optimization is the community of communicants’ cognitive basis which includes the knowledge about the system of some key concepts of foreign linguoculture, because it causes the communicative behavior of its people. In our opinion, “Mother” is one of the main categories, which possesses both universal and specific national features. The comparison of its implementation in differentlinguocultures on various blocks of materials will help to identify these features. Our study is based on the cultural approach, so we believe it productive to consider “Mother” as a linguocultural concept. Linguocultureis usually defined as a part of people’s culture, representing the totality of the phenomena of culture and language, interrelated and reflected in the mind of the individual [2]. Its linguistic units are endowed with additional cultural connotations - meanings that are functionally significant for culture, for adequate decryption of which a person should obtain cultural and linguistic competence. These connotations express a culture code which divides the world into parts, categorizing and assessing them. All linguocultural units are characterizedby their reproducibility in discursive practices which includes signs and stable image-semantic structuresfixed by the language. The following criteria may serve as a basis for allocating linguocultural concepts: the high-frequency of the concept name; its emotional experience;linguocultural identity;ideological orientation;nominative density;etymological memory. Any linguocultural concept has the following invariant features: it is a minimal unit of human experience in its ideal representation; it is a basic unit of processing, storage and transmission of knowledge; a concept has moving boundaries and specific functions; it is a basic cell culture and it is social. Thus, in our understanding, a concept acquires the linguocultural status when it has a cultural or ethnic coloration, as well as the presence of a distinct value component in its structure.
